The shared laws of all things living
reveal the roots of environmental decline
– and the means to reverse it.

Saving the Earth requires managing the animal in us. Katariina E. M. Vuorinen conducts and popularizes research across nature and society to understand this animal,
integrating biology, psychology, and economics.

Books

Join in for adventures from the wild Icelandic Arctic to the crowded streets of Tokyo, explore similarities between humans, lemmings and slime molds, and discover creative ways to combat environmental destruction.

Humans are not that different from other organisms – we are made of cells, driven by instincts, wired through evolution. And when mixed with unfortunate cultural ingredients, our biology can steer us towards ecocatastrophes. Yet, if we acknowledge the animal in us, it becomes much easier to nudge our species to more sustainable directions.
